How to Check Qatar ID (QID) Status and Expiry

Your Qatar ID (QID) is your residence permit and identity card. Its status and expiry date can be checked through the Ministry of Interior's official services.

Metrash app

Metrash is the Ministry of Interior's official app for residents. After registering with your QID and a Qatari mobile number, you can see your residence permit details and expiry date, and use many residency services.

1. Install Metrash from the official app store.
2. Register with your QID number and Qatari mobile number.
3. Log in and open the residency section to view your QID details.

Ministry of Interior website

The Ministry of Interior portal (portal.moi.gov.qa) also offers inquiry services for visas and residence permits. Look for the inquiry section and enter your QID number.

Renewal

• Your employer (sponsor) normally renews your residence permit.
• Your passport usually needs enough validity for the renewal.
• Late renewal can lead to fines, so check the expiry date early.

Changing jobs

Since the 2020 labour reforms, most workers in Qatar can change employers without a no-objection certificate, subject to notice rules. The Ministry of Labour (mol.gov.qa) publishes the current procedure.
